Fun-guys and Woolly Gals
Time flys when you’re crafting. We’ve met so many new knitters, spinners and felters this past month. We hope you’re having fun and that you’ll come by and show us your finished project. We’re happy to answer questions and help you find materials and classes to take you to your next fiber adventure! We’ve got new products, new classes for the fungi and gal in your life, and a blog post about one of our favorite artists…
New Product In Store: Mountain Meadow Wool
For over 100 years, Basque sheepherders have grazed sheep on the plains and mountains of Wyoming. Carrying on this rural tradition, two women established Mountain Meadow Wool Company in 2002. They were also concerned about the loss of this way of life with many sheep ranches closing down. These challenges turned into opportunity and they now have a working wool mill not only creating yarn from the fine wool of the area but also custom processing for growers. Mountain Meadow wool also returns 10% of the sale of finished products back to the ranchers.

They use only environmentally friendly cleansers, and non-petroleum based spinning oils. Mountain Meadow Wool Mill is committed to building a company with respect for nature, ethics, and sustainability. These natural merino yarns are soft, springy and smell lovely (it’s the citrus based cleanser!). They take dyes easily and the roving spins like a dream! Come check out the yarns (fingering, dk and bulky weights available) and fiber in the shop today. If you want to dye them we’ve got a full selection of dyes and now offer classes in kool-aid dyeing and natural mushroom dyes, perfect for these yarns.

MaryJane’s Attic Yarns in New Kira K Pattern!

Tension Magazine has just released a new pattern by Kira K, Centrifugal. The spiral design of this hat creates the illusion of centrifugal force pushing outward from the center down to the serrated lower edge. This is a simple pattern with a stunning payoff, and was developed using hand dyed O-Wool by Jamie (Mary Jane’s Attic).
